WhOooohhh.... The iPhone.

WASHINGTON—At an awards ceremony held yesterday for the 2008 Profiles in Courage Essay Contest, 17-year-old Hurricane Katrina survivor Audrey Temples collected yet another first-place trophy, her sixth in as many months. "It was so great to fly out to D.C. again and accept my award," said the displaced New Orleans resident, whose recent essays "Reflections In The Flood," "Flooded With Memories," and "Katrina Song" have all won her first-prize honors. "Hopefully I can come back soon. Maybe next week, if things work out." Temples is expected to return tomorrow to her family's FEMA-issued trailer, where her latest trophy will once again be pawned in order to help pay the bills.

So a few month ago our loving overloads sent us coupons for free
digital tv converter boxes, since analough tv will be cut off in
febuary.

Sheila and I don't watch much tv, only some "cable bleed through"
before bed time. I hesitaded on getting my free converter box because
you would still have to buy an antena. We never really bothered with
over the air tv, because we could never get any channels in well. So I
decided, let's go ahead and invest in an outdoor antena. The results
are great. We can bow watch 17 channels + bleed through.

Who needs stinking cable.

Well, we almost bought another bus today. It was a 74 with an
automatic transmission. He only wanted $1000 for it. I was going to
restore it if the body looked good, if not, I was going to use it as a
donor bus for parts. But the guy called me and said that he already
sold it. Oh well, next time.

I had attached the ground at a bad spot. I also got a new flasher
relay. But the hi-lo beam relay fixture is kind of goofy, so after
wrusseling around with the relay box, one of the fixture wires came
out. At least I am good for daytime driving for now. Fixing the relay
fixture requires laying on the floorboard under the drivers seat, with
good lighting and patients.

Last night I finaly finished up and got bulli rolling again. She
started right up and ran strong. Then after shutting her off I could
not get her started again. I have some sort of electrical issue. When
I turn the key to the on position, lights and fuelpump come on, when I
turn to the crank position, all power turned off. What a
disappontment, but at least It should not be to hard to fix.

The next month I'll be doing a compleate checkup on bulli. I am going
to take it to an old Vw mechanic to tune my carb and set/check my
timing. Bulli needs to be fit for the coast next month.

I was going to be done today, but today was the day I had to do the
hard stuff. First I forgot to put in a tin before I put the cylinders
back on. So instead of taking the cyliners back off, I had to take the
alternator out instead. After some pushing and pounding and a couple
busted knuckles I finaly got the tin in. Then putting the alternator
back on was another task and a half.

As I was putting the heater box back on, I discovered that my new head
had a different exauste mount, so ira did some modifications for me to
make the heater box fit.

Tomorrow should be the day when bulli will drive again. I already
drained the oil, put new sparkplugs in, and adjusted the valves. All
what really needs to still be done is to remount the muffler. Get a
new set of spark plug cables, and put some oil in.

Honestly I have been so busy, I have really stressed myself out this
week. I am working in two weddings at once, I still have a couple
projects that needs wrapping up before Christmas, and in a couple of
weeks I have to travel around the Dallas area for two days to shoot
video of schools. Tomorrow I will go to ira's house and finish up the
bus.

We got the piston on, but we did not get the cylinder on. The ring
compression tool busted as we were putting the cylinder on. So I am
going to buy a new one tomorrow, and give it another go. Bulli should
be finished up on Sunday.

Last night I finished taking the motor apart. Ira got on the phone and
called a local vw freak to see if he had the parts I needed. He said
he would check, and that I should call back today. So I did. He has
all the parts for me and he is going to charge me only $100 for them.
After work I am going to pick them up.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Spend the day at ira's shop and got the rest taken apart. The head and
pistond is trashed. Going to see a guy about replacement parts tomorrow.

I may have bulli running again really soon

I got the exaust and the heat exchanger out last night. It is raining
now. I hope to get the head off today.
